Venice and Sarasota flooring quote checklist
A decision file to complete before comparing flooring quotes: jurisdiction, flood zone, existing floor, slab moisture, product records and the contract.
What is not established
- This checklist does not establish a price, schedule, permit or warranty result.
- Moisture results and subfloor conditions must come from qualified project parties.
- No business is recommended or enrolled.
Print or save this checklist from your browser if a paper planning copy would help. Do not add private household or payment details to a shared copy.
Property and existing floor
- Property address and the confirmed permitting jurisdiction: City of Venice, City of Sarasota or unincorporated Sarasota County.
- Whether the home is in a flood zone, and whether any floor is below the base flood elevation.
- Year built, and what the existing floor, backing and adhesive are, before anyone removes them.
The quoted product
- Manufacturer, family and exact product name, with the official product page.
- The installation instructions, including the slab moisture test method and the result the product accepts.
- For composite-wood cores, the TSCA Title VI label; for emissions certifications, the exact product's listing.
- For tile in wet areas, the DCOF value and use classification of the quoted finish.
Work and records
- Who tests the slab, and who prepares and flattens the subfloor.
- Who removes the old floor, and how asbestos and lead-safe requirements are handled.
- Whether a permit is needed, and who pulls it.
- Proof of insurance, a written contract, price, schedule, disposal, warranty terms and exclusions, written down by the seller.
The checklist items restate questions raised by ASTM, EPA, TCNA, FEMA, FTC and local pages; it adds no requirement of its own.
