Venice and Sarasota replacement-window quote checklist
Compare written quotes by identity, evidence, responsibilities, exclusions, change control, and closeout rather than by a headline product family or price alone.
What is not established
- The responsible permitting jurisdiction and requirements must be confirmed for the property address.
- No price, stock, lead time, installer authority, warranty result, insurance treatment, or project suitability is established.
Print or save this checklist from your browser if a paper planning copy would help. Do not add private household or payment details to a shared copy.
Property and authority
- Exact property address and responsible City of Venice, City of Sarasota, or Sarasota County jurisdiction, with date checked.
- Contracting business identity, applicable license check, insurance evidence requested, and the party responsible for permit and inspection steps.
- Any association, historic, lease, lender, or other property approval assigned to a named party.
Opening and product identity
- Stable opening IDs, measurements, existing conditions, intended operation, egress or safety questions, and who confirms order dimensions.
- Manufacturer, series, named model, exact configuration, size, glass, frame, finish, hardware, screens, grids, labels, approval identifiers, and allowed substitutions.
- Current configuration-specific performance, approval, installation, warranty, and care documents attached or explicitly pending.
Work and water-management scope
- Removal method, retained or replaced frame components, substrate assessment, flashing and sealant approach, interior and exterior finish work, protection, cleanup, and disposal.
- Who owns concealed-condition review, change authorization, price and schedule effects, temporary protection, weather delays, permit revisions, inspection corrections, and damage response.
- Lead-safe applicability for pre-1978 work and any other safety process confirmed by the responsible party.
Closeout and later care
- Installed-unit and opening reconciliation, labels, approved changes, inspection status, completion items, warranty and care records, contacts, and unresolved issues.
- Written total, allowances, payment schedule, cancellation and change terms, start assumptions, completion definition, and records retained by each party.
FTC guidance supports written estimates, license checks, careful contract review, and resistance to payment pressure. DBPR provides a state license-verification starting point. Neither source approves a particular business.
