Florida Rule 61G4-15.100 created a window and door installation specialty contractor, effective May 5, 2024 and amended August 28, 2024, who may install, replace, adjust, repair and service exterior windows and doors, hurricane protection devices, shutters and hardware per engineering data or manufacturer specifications, excluding structural changes other than retrofit bucks. The DBPR construction industry FAQ states that installing doors, windows and structurally anchored opening protection requires a Division I or appropriate specialty license. Section 489.117, Florida Statutes, does not name doors in the subsection that limits local licensing.

Section 553.73(7)(g) lets a same-size replacement in an existing one- or two-family home proceed without sealed drawings when its conditions are met, but the permit itself is still required.
